This morning at around 1:50 a.m., Marion County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Salem Hospital, to investigate a man who had been transported to the hospital by a friend with multiple stab wounds. The victim, Charles Berry, age 49, is currently at Salem Memorial Hospital and being treated for what deputies are calling non-life threatening injuries.
From the investigation deputies have learned that Mr. Berry and the suspect Jonathan Schueller, age 31 had an altercation in the street in the 4100 block of Glenwood Drive SE in Salem. Investigating deputies believe that during this altercation Mr. Schueller stabbed Mr. Berry and then left the area. Mr. Schueller was found and arrested a few hours later not far from the scene. Mr. Schueller is currently in the Marion County Jail where he is being held on the charges of Assault II and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
