On Tuesday Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were made aware of a large "Rave" style party being held at 980 Silver Falls Drive NE, near Silverton in rural Marion County. The party titled "The Boombox in da Boondox" is set to play music throughout the night and provide vendors who are performing things like glass blowing.

Once learning of the gathering, our Code Enforcement Unit set out to ensure the organizers had made the appropriate arrangements with the County, Fire Marshal and other applicable permits and services needed for this type of gathering.

After learning the event was being held illegally the Sheriff's Office moved forward and obtained an injunction, barring the event from taking place. We are now working with our partners at the Oregon State Police, the Oregon Department of Transportation, the State Fire Marshalls Office and the land owners to place signs and barricades blocking access to the property. Deputies will be on hand and in the area patrolling.
