Yesterday Deputy Pete Marcellais received the "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award" or the "ABCD Award" from the Chemawa Indian School. The award which is normally reserved for staff that embody the vision of "One Chemawa" was bestowed on Deputy Marcellais for his dedicated work at the school as a school resource deputy.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office contracts with the school to provide three deputies to perform law enforcement services. All three deputies work throughout the school year interacting one on one with students and staff to ensure a successful school year.
To receive the award Deputy Marcellais demonstrated the below character traits exemplifying the "One Chemawa" mantra.
One Chemawa -- Honoring our unique tribal cultures while we work as one people.
One Chemawa -- Courageously rising to every challenge.
One Chemawa -- Striving for excellence each day.
One Chemawa -- Supporting each other to achieve success.
One Chemawa -- When one of us succeeds, we all succeed.
We are Chemawa, strong and proud!
