Cynthia Veazey is aged 26.

Jose Murillo, age 23, of Salem has been arrested and lodged at the Marion County Jail for the crimes of Assault I and Attempted Murder. Detectives have pieced together a set of events that left the victim Cynthia Veazey seriously injured in a rural portion of South Salem.
Detectives believe that Murillo and Veazey met on Craigslist within the last six months and formulated a friendship. Friday night Veazey called Murillo so the two could hang out and the pair went to the Buddhist Temple located at 8360 David Lane SE near Turner. After arriving at the temple Murillo and Veazey entered the temple through an unlocked door, inside the temple Detectives believe the pair were using methamphetamine.
Just after midnight Murillo began hearing voices under the tables and inside the temple. Murillo became agitated telling Veazey to help him find the people inside of the temple or he would stab her. Veazey attempted to calm Murillo and assure him there was no one inside of the temple with them. A short time later Murillo attacked Veazey stabbing her over ten times all over her body.
Murillo drug Veazey outside of the temple, where Veazey escaped and ran into a thicket of blackberry bushes and hid from Murillo. Murillo left the temple and walked out to the interstate where he was contacted by Oregon State Troopers claiming people were chasing him. Murillo was transported to Salem Hospital to treat a cut to his hand.
At around 5:30 a.m., the monks entered their temple and called the Sheriff's Office to report a break in. At 7:00 a.m., the monks called back and said they had located a female in the bushes and she was injured badly. At the hospital Detectives were able to piece the case together and arrest Murillo before he was discharged. Murillo is set to appear in court on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
